It’s time. I have spent too much time thinking about this, but now my vision is clear. And I am hoping you will come along for the ride!
I have been writing and teaching writing for most of my adult life. My focus has been opinion pieces and narrative non-fiction, and I have had the privilege of being published in many magazines and newspapers (but that is not why we are here!).
Now, I am writing a screenplay. I know, I am an absolute cliché. A writer in LA hoping to sell a screenplay. Oh well!
For most of my life, I have definitely had opinions that I felt I must express. But for the first time, I had a story that had to be told. And for some reason, it had to be told in movie form. So here we are. Actually, I did not really have a story. I had a character whose story needed to be told.
I thought about this character for three years before I finally put pen to paper. Or fingertips to a keyboard connected to Final Draft 9. And I am having a blast.
One of the reasons I have been able to finally write this screenplay after thinking about it for three years is that I have been working on myself. As Jim Rohn says, and I paraphrase, if you want a different life you have to do things differently. So that is what I have been doing. And now I have a screenplay and a vision. But I am not a finished product (and my draft is not a final draft by any means!!). We are both works in progress. I would love it if you would come along for the ride. Who knows?? Maybe you are an aspiring screenwriter as well! I would love for us to meet on the red carpet for not only my premiere, but yours as well.
So join me as I work from concept to premiere. I have no idea what this journey holds for me, but I could not be more excited. I am ready for the ride!
